A 1980 graduate of San Diego State University with a degree in Finance, Steve started his career in the financial services industry working as an Investment Analyst at Private Ledger Financial Services. He then went on to become the Director of Marketing for a real estate firm for six years before joining Lou Oberman at Lifetime Financial Advisors, Inc. (LFA).

Steve was a previous board member of the Endowment and Investment Committee of the First United Methodist Church in San Diego, and served on the board of the Rhoades Foundation for four years as treasurer. He has assisted many non-profit institutions and businesses in the areas of asset management and common sense financial advice. Steve and his firm have built solid relationships with their clients over the years and serve three generations of some families. At Lifetime Financial Advisors, Inc., our advisors manage over $170 million of client assets through LPL Financial, the nation's largest independent broker/dealer*.

Steve is a music enthusiast who enjoys playing the piano and singing with small groups. He and his wife, son and daughter live in Encinitas, California. The Van Houten's interests include their children's competitive soccer and baseball teams, church activities, cooking, music, camping, travel, and friends.

A graduate from California State University, San Marcos with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, Brian has over 16 years of experience in the Financial Services field. He has worked for several top financial firms such as Charles Schwab, TD Ameritrade and LPL Financial. As the Associate Investment Anaylst, Brian works closely with the advisors in portfolio research and the construction of portfolios in alignment with clients' objectives.  Brian is an excellent resource as it pertains to all aspects of financial planning at LFA.

 


 

Leah Beltran | Branch Operations Manager

Leah has over 13 years of experience in retail banking and financial services, which is where she gained her attention to detail and organizational skills. Her patience allows the day-to-day functions of the office run efficiently. She has a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from California State University, San Marcos. Leah is responsible for the management of operations at LFA, including human resources, accounting, and ensuring compliance with our broker/dealer and regulatory agencies.

Corey, who has been with LFA since 2005, plays an important role in the financial planning process at our firm. A graduate of UCLA, Corey obtained his Bachelors of Arts in Economics with extensive coursework in accounting. He is a big asset to LFA, bringing outstanding customer service skills and thoroughness in the work he performs. Our clients benefit from his knowledge, efficiency, and relaxed manner.

 


 

Spencer Johnston | Sr. Operations Coordinator

Spencer joined LFA part-time in 2006 while attending California State University, San Marcos. He obtained his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting in 2008 and joined the firm full-time. Prior to joing LFA, Spencer obtained his customer service and operational skills at La Jolla Bank. Spencer is vital to the operations at LFA, facilitating the account opening process, assiting clients with their accounts, and overseeing the operations department.

Brock joined LFA in December of 2010. He graduated California State, San Marcos in 2009 with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. Brock's experience in the restaurant industry is where he gained his customer service and efficiency skills, and work ethic, which he applies at LFA on a daily basis. He works closely with Spencer in client relations and account opening in the operations department.
